TRANSLATIONAL ONCOLOGY RESEARCH
The Ashur-Fabian Lab studies the roles of thyroid hormones (TH) and their inactivating enzyme, DIO3, in cancer progression. Using cutting-edge methods and innovative molecular approaches, our lab investigates the regulation of TH/DIO3 and their unique roles in growth, metabolism and DNA repair in several cancer models, with a focus on ovarian cancer. Through our novel platform, we aim to identify potential therapeutic targets and develop more effective treatments.
ABOUT
The Osnat Ashur-Fabian Lab focuses on understanding the multiple roles of thyroid hormones (TH) and the enzyme iodothyronine deiodinase type 3 (DIO3) in cancer, particularly in ovarian cancer. DIO3 contributes to cancer proliferation by inactivating the tumor-suppressive actions of TH.
Our research combines advanced molecular techniques, genetic analysis, and in-vitro models to examine how TH/DIO3 impact tumor growth and treatment resistance.
In addition, we develop specific inhibitors in order to provide a new treatment paradigm for ovarian cancer and potentially other DIO3-dependent malignancies.
